Join Fak’ugesi Resident Artist Ling Tan to explore wearable computing and the smart city.

The future of a smart city is imagined as a city filled with sensors on every street and corner, in public and private spaces, collecting data about almost everything. How do we as individual make sense of the different types of data out there? Does it make the neighbourhood we are living in a better one? How does it feel to live in a smart city?

These workshop and play events look at this data as “data treasures” waiting to be hunted. When treasures are found, they become resources. Participants will make use of wearable technology platform *WearOn.   A tool to help solve issues that concern their relationship with the environment. Play with the data treasures to create wearable pieces that react to their surroundings

The project consist of a series of workshops, please Register Here to attend in any of the workshops or play events. Two sessions per workshop, please choose one for each.

Participants will first learn how to prepare the Treasure hunt tool; selecting the type of sensors/actuators, designing how to wear it on their body together with the 3d printed housings provided. Participants are required to bring their mobile phone. WearON app will be installed into their phone to be used for the Treasure Hunt.
