Market Hack returns for the 2015 Fak’ugesi Festival. This year we will be situated close to the Nieghbourgoods Market  in The Grove by South Point, 18 Melle Street, Braamfontein. Sat. 29th Aug, between 10am & 4pm. A collaboration with British Council Connect ZA’s InnovationZA program with Maker Library Network.

Along side Fak’ugesi Residents and a host of exciting independent makers and hackers, this year the South African Maker Collective will be making robots for public interaction!  The MakerSpace, House4hackBinarySpaceAfrican robot, BushveldlabsMakerlabs, and the Maker Library Network will be combining their skill and passion in making fifty one (51) Robots.

The public is invited to help assemble the simple educational robot kits, then connect and control them with their smartphone’s. After the event the robots will involved in an interactive kinematic art installation at the Ithuba Arts Gallery in Braamfontein, before being distributed through the South African Maker Collective members around South Africa. The Robot project is made possible by the generous sponsorship from British Council Connect ZA, The South African Maker Collective and Derivco.
